Meter Feeding

Postby brindleskye » Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:32 am

Hi,

Not a 'significant' win by any standards but satisfying none the less.

I returned to my car to find a fixed penalty notice attatched to the windscreen for 'meter feeding', in other words, after the first two hours (max parking period) were up, I put more money in to cover the next two hours. I later found a small sign on the parking meter to the effect that 'Maximum parking 2 hours - no return within 1 hour'.

Now I was 100% guilty of this offence.....however. I asked the council to prove beyond reasonable doubt that I had not removed my car from the space for the 1 hour stipulated on the notice. My argument was that I had removed the car after the first two hours and returned it to the same spot 61 minutes later, and unless they could prove otherwise they could sod off.

Despite my being as guilty as sin; they wrote to tell me that they had imposed the fixed penalty in error and would I accept their apology !!!!!

How Strange :8-):

A small success is still a success.
