Most likely a capacitor in series with an inductor as in the resonator component of a superhetrodyne radio receiver. It oscillates at the resonant frequency it is tuned to via a moving brush along the winds of the inductor.

It would oscillate at one frequency at a time thus losing the potential energy of emf induced currents of different frequencies.

Its the amplification of these currents which draws power in a radio as the receiver function of a radio is energy producing (ie draws its power from the radio waves in the air). Theoretically you can tune into any electronagnetic frequency from microwave heat and light to gamma rays and beyond but there would be implications on the choice of materials for the circuit. However you can only collect the energy from one particular EMF frequency at a time - the frequency that the resonator is tuned to.

I've heard about using cone shaped or even sphereshaped inductor coils to collect a greater set of frequencies but haven't did enough research to know if its bollocks or not but it might be worth a look.

Its part of 4 vids this guy then fits it to his BMW and it appears its working fine :) . Thinking of building a couple meself :thinks: :grin: .
