MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN

The list of international developments funded by Britain grows more and more strange when you ask about it. For example:
an anti litter drive in Jordan
a water park in Morocco
a study of coconuts in the Pacific
measuring the carbon footprint in the Dakar rally.
The Foreign Office dished out more than three hundred million pounds on some very odd schemes, including a TV game show in Ethiopia; free productions of Shakespeare in Haiti and fish farming in Madagascar.
We are also, it seems, funding projects in China to the tune of one hundred and twenty billion pounds.

Just that three hundred million alone would sort out a lot of Britain's homeless people – including the thirty one thousand homeless children and seven thousand homeless ex soldiers.
Cassandra.
