Is that just for scotland H and not for england and wales!

Also if you have a mortgage already linked to a property then i presume one
would have to pay it off first before using the alloidal route??

peace

This is Scotland specific, I don't know if the rest of the UK went down a Land Reform like we did up here.

If you have debts secured against your property you can't do it....so you need to clear those debts or get un secured loans, once the debt is clear, then it's all good, and then no more taxes.

Talk about law of unintended consequence...they never would have expected this.

True allodial title is rare, with most property ownership in the common law world—primarily, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Republic of Ireland—described more properly as being in fee simple. In particular, land is said to be "held of the Crown" in England and Wales and the Commonwealth realms. In England, there is no allodial land, all land being held of the Crown; even in the United States most lands are not allodial, as evidenced by the existence of property taxes. Some of the Commonwealth realms (particularly Australia) recognise native title, a form of allodial title that does not originate from a Crown grant.

All crown owned in england :grr:

FOI the English Land Registry.

Search the forum for allodial, I've written some stuff on it and links.

I don't think crown ownership is the whole story, when you go back in the history....don't give up on it....you can still 'record' a claim...i think the limit is 7 years without interuption establishes a right, and it can only be trumped by prior allodial title, and then they'd have to prove it was genuine.

So funny explaining this to people at work today....mostly blank faces....people seem incapable of understanding the enormity of what is being explained to them....and the beautiful simplicity of it.

I don't think 'ownership' by the crown means ownership as in: 'it's mine, get orf !' Rather here, 'ownership' means it's [the land] a part of Englands
Lands... we couldn't have lots of 'Passports to Pimlico' popping up, now could we ? Or could we... :sun:

[EDIT]
Bl**dy *ell, if allodial title proves to be possible, we could have the french buying chunks of Kent... let's be careful what we wish for !

Can't be too sure with the British Crown (which is NOT E-Lizardeath II, btw). The British Crown in Temple Bar like to own everything.

They already own all the Bus Operators (in London, at least)
