There is no confirmation required from them.
It helps if they acknowledge it but it's not necessary.
Simply sending the letter and notice to them by recorded delivery, which needs to be signed for, is more than enough evidence for you.
The requirement, or burden, of proof falls on them once its been posted, and having to be signed for once delivered means that they would have no excuses.

Bad idea bringing the light of inspection on you. I tell anyone with any State connection as little as possible. You made yourself a suspect!
